Reflection on reading a great article : Instructional Design and Development for Social Media Lessons by Dr. Dennen. Designing Social media lessons. So , its basically like you are planing a regular lesson, you need to consider the intended learning outcomes and ensure that the content of your lesson or the concepts addresses those outcomes and the instructional activities provide the needed practice to achieve the educational goals. You need to ask few questions, like how much value doe s social media add to your lesson? does it support your instructional method , whether its collaborative or concept methods..etc. Will this media support your learning activities? How much knowledge does your student have about using this media, doe she/ he have easy access, does the student need to set up access, does the student have any concerns in regards to privacy settings? What really made me think and really dig into, even try to apply was the part of :  t he  Social media develo...

The world of Canva , trying to dive in :) https://www.canva.com/ I was truly amazed by this particular online tool, you can literally design anything using this tool . After choosing the pricing plan, basically the FREE version,  I tried creating a an online white board using many templates as well as presentations and an A4 document , through going through my choices , my designs were automatically saved! Then i realized if I simply clicked on the right icon " Create a design " , i would have jumped right into it . You can design an invitation, a post card, a tag, newsletter , book cover a ticket, just about anything! After choosing your design, then on the left hand side of the next page,  there is a set of options / features that you can use, you can use different types of templates, Then you have the choice with  adding texts into your page , uploading media ( videos and images), Adding you tube videos into your document or interpretations . Once you are done, y...
Social and digital media Detoxification   Since i have done tit so many times  so far, i felt that i would be able to blog about it.  Sometimes, my family and i head to the beach and try to detoxify for even more than 24 hours. So basically i have been challenging myself throughout the years to see the extent of my addiction and reliance on it.  I have done it recently  in the past two  weeks and felt lately a bit anxious and had urges to  check out at least one of those medias. All in all,  I was able to pull it off ,  as who I am as a persons, im not much on social media, so it wasnt that much of a challenge . I  didnt check my   personal email, usually on weekends, not much is going on there, i didnt check any  social media, nor did i browse for news or browse to enrich my educational material as i always do on weekends.  The only thing I did and I usually do , is I send in personal text messages for clos...
The conservative nature of the educational system , what keeps us from making remarkable change ? I really liked the chapter written mainly by  Salomon ( 2016) , where he discussed why technology didnt really make deep changes into the educational system .  Three factors according to him were main contributors, the First one,  The tendency of the educational system to preserve itself. The technology is kind of tailored and domesticated into the system, contributing not much more than it used to do before, so the power of and the  innovation's effect of technology doesnt have much of an impact on education . The second and most powerful factor is that in acquiring the knowledge , there is the need for social mediation. I loved the part about schooling , where its NOT about information, its about transforming it into knowledge, its bout understanding the knowledge and and what can be done with it .Technology does...

Students as well as my own concerns when it comes to personal and Intellectual property     I have had my own concerns when it came to sharing my own personal information on social media or even among my own peer. I have read that many students have feelings of ownership in regards to this kind of information. In addition , click stream data , an individual's  activity in class space, some students perceived this as an unethical practice as a surveillance  and students considered these activities and use of space data a private issue and a big concern . Students were found to even change their space behaviors due to the feeling of being monitored. Although young learners may seem upfront , brave in sharing and engaging in alot of online platforms, studies have shown that they do have concerns. It has been shown that concerns differ depending on the age, forum/ site, content and context (Dennen, 2016). I came across an incident while enrolling into an IOWA ...
OER: Open educational resources , how are they shared, how useful and effective are they? This concept is a new acquired word to  to me, but definitely  a concept that has been applied and has been around for ages . OER can only be effective if its widely accessible by end users . Repositories Metadata allows and facilitates the end user ability to have access and find needed content . Through this end, users will have the accessibility to the content they need, reviews about it from authentic users as well as they will be able to save and use it in the future. Repositories may sometimes have issues , for example, who gets to have an input and classify learning objects and  especially who has  intellectual property ownership of that content .This could possibly lead to confusion of end users and perhaps misuse of the content . OER isnt only shared via repositories, other ways also contribute , when lets say a researcher or  contributor shares his content o...

My reflection on  Diggo   Diigo,  is the paperless way to go where you can annotate ,  highlight,  sort and arrange your materials and share them with your partner or  tor class group. As long as you have your internet and your computer , you are good to go. Very easy an feasible tool! .  In my past experience, i always struggled in remembering  the name of the bookmark , so i end up wasting time digging into the long list, However, with this tool , its pretty organized, you can start from wherever  you left off. I like that you can highlight what is needed then add your personal note into it, and share it perhaps to your research partner or share it with your class group. The feature of saving is pretty useful too, when you click on Bookmark to save, it gives you the option  to add a description of the page, include tags, and either save the bookmark or share it. Tags here is what ...
Social tagging effect on the learning process - Cognition . Social tagging is defined as  the activity of annotating and classifying digital resources with keywords (tags ). Most  web-based information systems use tagging  for the collaborative records of  vast amounts of information (Lavoue (2011)   The study of Lavoue, found that students cognitive processes were stimulated through tagging,  where they effectively questioned their tags (more their documents), possibly due to the comparison to other group members . They added that collaborative work  negotiation within the groups also seem to provoke a questioning of their tags and a modification of tags and documents.  They suggested tagging supports the learning process, and that it could be more used on educational web-based systems, for it helps in the  synthesis of main i...
Crowdsourcing , a concept pretty known to me but definitely a new word added to my vocab  Crowdsourcing has many definitions according to Zhao and zhu, (2014). Many searchers based their definition on many diverse set of practices as well as different theoretical bases as well as models .   System based focus studies have aimed to define and explore the definition of crowdsourcing  as a set of intersecting components and what structures they can form. Exploring the definition form that angle was pretty interesting to me  and i would like to share the concept with you! It was defined as a collective intelligence system and by that reflecting the cycle of real daily projects. This means, that there is a mass of firms or individuals that are tied with one another and interconnected by information links that could be online or offline communications. These systems are set to be man made systems where they are made of multiple views including planning, requireme...
