The conservative nature of the educational system , what keeps us from making remarkable change ?

I really liked the chapter written mainly by Salomon ( 2016) , where he discussed why technology didnt really make deep changes into the educational system .

Three factors according to him were main contributors, the First one,  The tendency of the educational system to preserve itself. The technology is kind of tailored and domesticated into the system, contributing not much more than it used to do before, so the power of and the  innovation's effect of technology doesnt have much of an impact on education .

The second and most powerful factor is that in acquiring the knowledge , there is the need for social mediation. I loved the part about schooling, where its NOT about information, its about transforming it into knowledge, its bout understanding the knowledge and and what can be done with it .Technology does give you the access but doesnt give you the skill to transform  the information .Teachers are facilitators and students also are contributors to the learning experience.

The third factor was the misguided research, where i myself even used to  think that way , how does technology use affect learning outcome  ?

But it really changed the way i was thinking, i truly get Now what he meant, that different means serve different ends. It doesnt serve same old traditional goals that are expected by educators .

And this is what really made me think about my perspective , how can these tools help achieve educational measures and what are those exactly are those measures or goals to be attained

  1. Hi Rula, more and more employers are looking for critical thinkers; however, so often students graduate from high school and sometimes college with little opportunity to learn how or gain experience in practicing. For example, I am on a team that writes training programs for people who are going to go out into the world and have F2F interaction with people, solve multiple problems simultaneously, and not make any mistakes. Most of the training is lecture based, although it has substantially shifted based on our efforts; however, the education system has preserved itself even though the learning outcome does not support what is needed in the field. Change can be painful.
