My visit to Jordan and Social Media.

It came to my attention that many women in Jordan really care about the mobiles they carry, its kind of a social economic status indicator. Women jump on the new IPhone as soon as its on the market. Women there love to brag about their new phones which has been the case for some time now.  Thats one of the reasons why buying a mobile in developing countries is booming nowadays. Not only that, women here believe that if you dont have an Instagram account , twitter, Facebook as well as Snap chat, this shows that you arent really part of their high end society and you basically dont or cant fit with them! Another reason why women here keep using social media , to fit in!

This trip to Jordan, especially after taking the course of Web 2.0 , really have enlightened my way of thinking and reflecting on social media uses in the world.  If i were to stay and live with them, i would have probably been one of those women! Its use sadly in Jordan, is basically where people go , travel, wear and what do they eat! Many have a mind set of bragging of what they do and where they go about.

   Most social media users are relatively  educated, men and women, both use social media daily or  very frequently here, many of those have extra time to spare. Basically  teens and young adults are the the ones who are pretty hooked and engaged into it. Income weighs in when it comes to its use, people in Jordan either use it to greet people or to show what they are eating and where ..lol...pretty hilarious and sad at the same time.

This post only reflects a slice of Jordan society, but i wanted to share my insight!

Social tagging is defined as  the activity of annotating and classifying digital resources with keywords (tags ). Most  web-based information systems use tagging  for the collaborative records of  vast amounts of information (Lavoue (2011)   The study of Lavoue, found that students cognitive processes were stimulated through tagging,  where they effectively questioned their tags (more their documents), possibly due to the comparison to other group members .   The conservative nature of the educational system , what keeps us from making remarkable change ? I really liked the chapter written mainly by  Salomon ( 2016) , where he discussed why technology didnt really make deep changes into the educational system .  Three factors according to him were main contributors, the First one,  The tendency of the educational system to preserve itself.
