Twitter vs Reddit I find myself crawling little by little into the online tools of this course , and ive been feeling more comfortable with Reddit much more than Twitter. I was wondering what exactly is making feel that way. I think that the privacy setting without a biography helps, perhaps Twitter is more of a social networking service and Reddit is more of discussion service with ratings. I still dont know why content needs to be rated though, why contributions has to be valuable to get Karma, knowing that each and every member is different and how valuable is the content differs form one member to the other. But i do get how the more upvoted a posts gets, the more valuable the post is to that community . Ive noticed that you dont need to follow the person to see his posts while on Twitter you have to follow that person in order to see his posts or tweets. Posts are viewed depending on how posts are upcoted ( rated)  and not by trending tweets. I will definitely try and lo...

Reflecting on (Dabbagh, 2012) Role of instructors in helping and guiding their learners to acquire skills needed to effectively utilize social media for a better learning outcome/ experience . A framework has been suggested by the author , to help  higher education instructors in setting and framing  student self-regulation skills in the creation of Personal learning environment PLE . They based it on how the levels of socially interactive the person is on social media . Levels were as follows :  (1) personal information management, (2) social interaction and collaboration, and (3) information aggregation and management. This framework helps college faculty on how to engage students into an actively growing cycle of building  PLEs that would support students' self-regulated learning. This environment can become an effective educational tool that acts as a vehicle for informal learning as well as it could trigger their cognitive analytical processes.  When ...
User Led Environment reconfigured, Educators roles  From what i have understood  reading through (Bruns, 2011) , there seems to be a growing need  for education/ educators where their role needs to address the process and practice of  the creation of user led content, in a way that it would help their learners develop skills as providers , information seekers and users where they become capable of successfully engage in user - led environments .Educators need to help their learners develop capacities which they will need to acquire in user- led spaces. The effect of this shift on education is huge , going form amount of information , depth , availability and variety of sources that produsers add to the field of education. There is always a threat or  a challenge  by which this kind of approach allows more expertise , more opinions to weigh into the pool of information , then again is this overload of information is it accredited ?, is it trust worthy ...
I was reading into Digital Natives and realized i am not one of them ! I am trying to be one , but still have an accent... , i would say  a heavy accent too ....There is so much work ahead of me , yet i will never be a true native! but im okay with it i guess . Its amazing how you are able to accept who you are , how you do acknowledge your flaws and weaknesses, but then again  you feel you want to develop , improve, grow and overcome challenges that life throws at you. I grew up with Nintendo games around but thats nothing close to what Digital Natives are living through  nowadays. My kids literally taught me about new educational platforms like Jamboard templates and so forth . Then moving forward with my career , i came across many platforms and free online tools that aid in easy , smooth , up beat  educational experience . Interactive platforms really work when it comes to our students. They respond so quickly , initiate discussion easily and are very refle...
I have been trying to wrap my head around how this  approach could help me teach Nutrition, biochemistry.  I have been using many videos and platforms lately to help my students get a grasp on what we have been learning lately.  I have been learning about many online discussion platforms that improve collaborative learning and ultimately enhance critical thinking, the pure educational goal when it comes to me. My experience is College students mainly and these students are very alert and mindful of whatever new media tools are offering. I feel behind and a bit overwhelmed to be honest with you on how am i going to catch up with them. I believe the social media tools will help my social skills and communication , making amends and bridges between me and my students . Collaborative learning  can be done effectively with more communication , more interaction and fruitful outcomes could come out of using those tools. I have followed my community , ...
I have been reading alot about social media, Pros more precisely and it has been very enlightening to me , how much of a positive effect it could have in my world and in my mission about raising awareness when it comes to Nutrition . Im sure that there are so many influencers  out there sharing their experiences and thoughts about food and what could be good for you , but i was thinking why not coming from an accredited source with meaningful valuable reliable links to scientific articles perhaps . Social media is a platform for collaborative learning, it promotes critical thinking and enhances social communication skills. It provides a wider audience to what my research outcomes and other scientific research related to my subject. It could help empower my students to engage more into class topic and develop their learning and social skills. The more I read into it, the more I get excited to think on how can i apply it to my tiny nutrition world .
I have came across this article that addressed social communities and its presence on online spaces and  how its related to the physical ones. The term community retains the appeal of human social relationships, a sense of being familiar with one another, having mutual concerns , relatively continuous loyalty and support . Online communities are considered also communities and they do cover all the aspects of the term , meeting the traditional definition . Shared values and norms are both present in online and face to face communities as well as extended friendships, but one difference is , there is kind of a commercial angle of social network, where there is an obligation or a feeling for the need to participate if someone belongs or work with a corporate or so . The article touches also on how physical  communities and local relationships  can increase online interactions and  new friendships . On the other hand mobile applications encourages in person meet ...
